want to share a story i learnt during the weekend. here goes..

the soldier, the lady and WW2.

Once upon a time during World War 2, there was an American soldier being posted to fight the war in Europe. Before he went there, he had loaned out a book of poetry from the library. there was no PSP or Nokia handphones back then. So a poetry book was the best form of entertainment. i suppose.

so whilst fighting the war, he was also able to read the poetry book during his free time. the book was written by an American lady. from there, he became deeply in love with her poetry. in the book was also the address of the author. thus he wrote a letter of appraisal to her.

then ever since the first letter, they became pen pals. always writing to each other even during the peak period of the war. this was the MSN messenger or mIRC back then.

and they fell in love with each other even though they never seen each other before. the soldier ever asked her once if she could send him a picture of her. but the lady only replied, "if our love is true, my picture is irrelavant." and he agreed on tt.

soon after the war, they finally agreed to meet each other. the lady decided that they were to meet in a Boston train station. and if their love is really2 true. they would finally meet each other. but then the soldier was dumb enough not to ask what time they were to meet. all he was able to know was that he was to carry the poetry book with him. and that to recognise the lady, she would be carrying a rose. so he came pretty early that day. right when the clock struck midnight he was there already. waiting.

noon came. it was the busy period. everyone was rushing here and there. the soldier still waiting with anticipation. then suddenly he saw one of the most beautiful things he ever saw. a lady in a green dress was walking towards him. he perspired. "this could be my most lucky day ever. even better than surviving thewar!", he thought. he gripped his book tight. then suddenly he noticed something unusual. the greend dress lady wasnt holding any rose ! and at that moment he saw someone far behind her standing alone. holding a rose. she was one of the most unsightful things he ever saw! his heart broke. he saw a lady exactly the same size as the one in Shallow Hal. weighing at a weight even cows are lighter.

the next moment the green dress pretty lady walked past him and asked "gg my way?" sexily. he was torn. between pretty pretty girl or ugly girl with rose. he knew that he bonded and fell in love with her during the letter sessions. but little did he expect to see something like that!

he finally made a decision. sticking to his principles and morals, he took a deep breath and walked towards the "fugly" lady with rose. and as he stood infront of her he asked,"hi. im so-and-so-i-forgot-the-name."

the lady replied,"who are you? cos i have no idea what's going on. that lady in the green dress told me to hold this rose and wait here."

and as the soldier looked behind to find the green dress lady, he saw her, smiling and chuckling. he proved his worthy love for her.
